Title The Ornamental Potted Plants: Circular Economy In Agriculture

Abstract Paper it is aimed at a sector of agriculture in which finds resistance the change imposed by the circular economy; it is the case of the sector of ornamental plants in pots. From a survey on the propensity to change consumption patterns, emerge consumer visions and sensibilities on the transition to responsible management to home of an ornamental plant at the end of life (waste). The investigation is based on a series of variables (economic, psychological, sociological-relational, behavioral) influencing the attitude of the consumer with regard to change from a consumption based on the "buy - proper disposal" to a model on the "buy - recycles". The results tend to outline a first informative framework that is original and useful for understanding the issues and constraints that hinder the circularity in the ornamental plants in pots, particular in final phase of the supply chain. It should however be stressed that due to the small statistical sample - although this significant for known importance of the sector within the territorial area of reference (i.e., circumscribed to Sicily) - the results reported in this paper cannot be generalized, but are to be considered indicative and expression of validated trends.
