Abstract The growth of the world economies has been based on a production model of a linear nature, which has implied a process of gradual degradation of natural resources; today, the efforts to modify the way of generating goods and services, are insignificant, the absence of a sustainable business culture, of responsible consumption on the part of the plaintiffs, the absence of public policies that protect the environment from governments, contribute to the threat of unsustainability remaining latent. The circular economy is the alternative model that can disruptively modify the production process; therefore, to demonstrate the advantages of circularizing the economy, the following objective is established; identify the potential incidence of the circular economy in achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 plan, highlighting the opportunity for social synergy. To achieve this, a theoretical-empirical analysis was used, based on the selection-screening of documents and the application of surveys to a group of key informants. The main results show that there is a meeting point between the circular economy and the sustainable development objectives 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12, of the 17 declared, also highlighting the need to join efforts by the different sectors of society, businessmen, consumers, and governments, to guarantee sustainable economic development.
