Abstract In the textile sector, the Circular Economy (CE) is emerging as an alternative to the Linear Economy (LE). Transitioning to CE is a complex process, as the motivation is still primarily economic and studies related to its application in the apparel industry are still in their early stages. Therefore, in order to implement CE, the first step needs to be assessing the level of manufacturing and business model maturity in order to subsequently design an action plan. Thus, this article proposes to evaluate the maturity of circular practices in apparel manufacturing, in order to shed light on areas that need improvement in order to implement CE. The maturity level was assessed in 88 apparel manufacturing companies through a survey. The results, in general, indicated the absence of a relationship between the size of the companies and the degree of maturity of CE practices, although there is inherent concern for clean production in all the companies. The apparel manufacturers demonstrat-ed alignment with product development guided by CE principles. Services aimed at extend-ing the lifespan of products are not yet operationalized, but there was agreement on the use of tools that promote garment longevity. There was also a perceived need to redesign the or-ganizational culture, as well as the customer relationship, encompassing a focus on garment conservation and maintenance. On the other hand, younger apparel manufacturers showed a greater connection with the use of environmentally friendly inputs and tools that promote longevity. Finally, it was also identified that older companies exhibited higher engagement in implementing the use of clean energy.
