Title Biogasdoneright® Model: Soil Carbon Sequestration And Efficiency In Agriculture
Year 2016

Abstract Intensive agriculture is directly responsible of 10-14% of global GHGs emissions. Despite this, soil is a powerful carbon sink and an improved soil management can contribute to a substantially reduction of agricultural GHGs emissions by sequestering some carbon in soil organic matter. In this scenario, biogas in agriculture can improve sustainability and competitiveness of farms because it produces renewable energy, stable fertilizer (digestate) and contribute to restoring a model of circular economy in farms with a close C cycle. Applying the BiogasDoneRight((R)) model, an example of multifunctional and sustainable agriculture according to objectives of "EU road map of efficient Europe", this study demonstrates the positive effects of digestate in soil fertility and carbon sequestration potential with an on-field approach.
