| Abstract | EU environmental policy is established on the basis of Art. 11 and 191-193 of the TFU. The role of this policy is to ensure ecological security and high quality of life for society. This policy is sustainable and is based on the principles of precaution, preventive action and treatment at source, as well as the "polluter pays" principle. Currently, the EU has The Eighth Environment Action Program until 2030, which is based on the objectives of the European Green Deal and other EU programs, that is, circular economy, Fit for 50, the strategy "Toward a sustainable Europe 2030" and "From the field to the table." This program establishes a framework of six priority goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and climate neutrality, adaptability to climate change, transition to a circular economy, zero pollution, protecting and restoring biodiversity, and reducing environmental and climate pressures related to production and consumption. The society plays an important role in shaping environmental policy, especially in environmental impact assessment procedures. All these activities with the participation of society should in the future contribute to the improvement of the quality of the environment and, consequently, the quality of their lives, as well as the implementation of the leading principle of sustainable development-leaving environmental resources to future generations. |
