Abstract Sewage sludge mixt. was deposited on the post-mining area. The content of heavy metals in soil samples was taken from both study and control site. The heavy metal contamination index for the soil substrate and Taraxacum officinale in the post-mining area was calculated. The beneficial effect of soil substrate on reclaimed post-mining areas was found. Industrial and municipal waste can be used for a circular economy and land reclamation
