Title Grasping the English Concept and Terms in the Circular Economy Field - From Pedagogical Input to Learner Output

Abstract Politicians, business people, researchers and many stakeholders analysed and established the benefits of a circular economy, which the news media extensively presented. Surprisingly, the term "circular economy" has more than a hundred definitions in the scientific literature, according to recent studies; therefore, language learners may misunderstand the concept and terms pertaining to this economic system. Thus, our aim is to make a list of terms related to this economic system then investigate the differences and similarities in the representation of these terms in electronic dictionaries (e.g., Merriam Webster Dictionary, Macmillan Dictionary, and Cambridge Dictionary). After looking up the terms and analysing their entries and definitions, we focus on finding the right methods and tools to ensure the students' understanding of the terms. We conclude that some key terms have entries in dictionaries and their definitions are explicit while others do not have entries so, in this case, students' understanding of the terms and, particularly, of collocations depends on their teacher constructive guidance, in accordance with an online flipped classroom model. By implementing the flip classroom, students could explore various perspectives on the same topic. In addition, the interdependence between the input (the receptive skills) and the output (the productive skills) modelled their learning habit.
