Abstract | The Internet of Things (IoT) has integrated the digital and physical world, along with cognitive decision-making abilities that would not require human participation. It also represents the future trend and the next global revolution unfolding in a green industrial environment. This study aimed to decouple the effects of motivations for adopting the Green Industrial Internet of Things (GIIoT) for eco-sustainability and to evaluate its impact on green innovation (GI). The study also examined the mediating role of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) on the association between the GIIoT and GI. Data were collected online from 355 manufacturing organization employees. Analysis of the data shows that eco-sustainability motivations such as eco-efficiency, eco-effectiveness, eco-responsiveness, and eco-legitimacy lead to the adoption of the GIIoT. Empirical analysis shows that AMT mediates the relationship between GIIoT and GI. These outcomes expand and improve the current literature on the GIIoT and GI and provide practitioners with valuable insights into GI technologies that fulfill their environmental responsibilities. |
