Abstract The work investigates the potential of mobility initiatives and services based on electric vehicles as a sustainability management tool supporting regional development. According to this scheme, different approaches and actions for the development of electromobility at local and regional level as well as their business models have been investigated. Particular attention is given to the concept of integration between sustainable mobility, energy storage systems and intelligent grids, as a strategic pattern able to maximize energy system efficiency and the environmental, social and economic benefits at regional level.
