Abstract The past decade has witnessed rapid development of smart cities across the world. At the same time, shortage in power supply has emerged as the result of massive deployment of IoT devices. The power demand from smart city applications have put energy companies under tremendous pressure. In this paper, we seek a new power allocation solution that considers different energy needs posed by different consumers while maintaining a total power consumption limit. We model the power allocation problem with linear programming under certain allocation constraints and propose a solution to solve the linear feasibility problem.
