Abstract |
This paper investigates how renewable resources can be exploited to overcome the power shortage and produce a significant amount of the energy demand from the most feasible renewable sources in Bangladesh. Using two energy system analysis softwares, HOMER which specializes in optimizing energy systems and EnergyPLAN which focuses on larger regions, a strong smart city model has been presented which may be used to implement an RES Integrated Urban Energy System in the future. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based forecaster using MATLAB has been integrated to the system to predict the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) data and analyze the future optimization scenario. The scenario of Khulna City, Bangladesh has been considered for the case study considering the demand of electricity and the availability of renewable energy. |
