Abstract Recent environmental experts report of air pollution of major cities in India reveals that about 18-lakh people died in the year 2015, due to air pollution. Further 78.80% of natural air is being polluted as per records collected from 75 places in India and 17 places in Karnataka, resulting in severe health issues. In addition to this, report also says that the total loss occurred during the year 2015 due to air pollution amounts to 300 lakh crores in the world. It is worthwhile to note that, the current air quality is around 25.20% in metro cities. An innovative integrated framework is being developed to capture environmental data using LORA-based framework and data analytics. Sensors are being used to detect the air pollutants like CO, NO2, CO2, and NH3 in identified locations of metro cities. This paper focuses on design aspects of smart air monitoring system that provides necessary air quality statistics which in-turn help in creating the awareness among the public and to the government agencies with respect to the air pollution components, real-time air quality and its adverse impacts of the environment. However, the integrated solution also helps to take preventive measures to improve the air quality among all living beings.
