Abstract | A smart city refers to an intelligent environment obtained by deploying all available resources and recent technologies in a coordinated and smart manner. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is used for developing and maintaining a sustainable and environmental friendly transportation system leading to the evolution of the concept of a Green City. The expansion and development of green cities goes side by side with the development of smart cities. Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) is an advanced version of transportation mechanisms to enhance the benefits mentioned above. Several authors have proposed various security transportation schemes, however, the response time and communication overhead still need to be considered to encourage business developments, and expanding the recycling's. In this paper, we have proposed an intelligent transportation mechanism that categorizes each device into various categories depending upon its communication behavior using decision based tree making system. Additionally, an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) method is proposed to further examine and analyze the continuous flow of data. The proposed mechanism is further validated through MATLAB simulator against number of metrics over a baseline method. The simulated results suggest that the proposed scheme leads to 89% efficiency in terms of better detection of legitimate nodes, altered records, records accuracy and response time during sensing of vehicles.
