Abstract | As traffic volumes continue to rise, the need for innovative tools to optimize and manage traffic becomes increasingly imperative. These tools should focus on addressing critical parameters such as speed and driver behavior to streamline traffic flow effectively. This study introduces a new contribution aimed at developing a state-of-the-art simulator to precisely represent the features and dynamics of a roundabout. Roundabouts are complex and widely used transportation structures that require thorough analysis to optimize traffic flow and enhance road safety. The new proposed roundabout model is based on the queuing theory. Our goal is to develop a new generic simulator based on simulink under matlab to evaluate the performance of a roundabout. The roundabout model has been evaluated using two metrics, latency and queue size. The obtained numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed simulator, highlighting its potential as a valuable tool for enhancing traffic flow in urban areas. |
