| Abstract | The matter of heritage conservation and sustainability have been considered totally opposite until some years ago. In general terms, the situation can be explained due to sustainability being commonly dedicated to developing innovative techniques and materials that can be implemented in the construction field. On the other hand, heritage conservation aims to keeping the products in harmony in the original aspect. However, the objectives are actually not antagonistic, and they have a clear potential of working together, to plan and rehabilitate spaces and buildings, in the direction of generating smart cities, technologically and ecologically efficient, respecting the social memory and identity of their members. Therefore, this paper intends to expose a methodology based in human sciences for formulating a qualitative indicator named "place and memory", in order to be used for previous urban intervention and rehabilitation work. |
