| Abstract | Purpose: This review systematically maps the scholarly articles on waste management practices in the textile sector in light of consumer-disposed textiles and the adoption of the circular economy. It emphasizes the significance of scholarly research to the existing knowledge on waste management practices in the context of India's textile sector. Materials and Methods: A thorough Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was employed, which included an analysis of the content of 58 papers published in academic journals in the last 6 years. Findings: The integration of textile waste management methods/practices in this review depicts the varied and challenging domain of waste management in the textile industry. Conversely, there are very limited studies conducted in developing economies, where most textile manufacturing occurs. Research Limitations: The study includes literature from selected databases published between 2015 and 2021. More comprehensive research coverage and continuous evaluation of the health and status of the textile industry are required for valuable insights to effectively adopt circular economy practices from the perspective of developing countries like India. |
