Abstract The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the main trends in the global agri-food system following the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic crisis, the climate and digital transitions, and the increasing demands for sustainability and public health should lead to a major transformation of the global agri-food chain. In this context, it examines the scope of the changes on going and/or their potential for the public policies relating to the agri-food systems and, in particular, agricultural policies and the CAP at European leve.
