| Abstract | Advanced digital technologies are fundamentally changing the way we live, work and communicate. As a result of this development, the digital economy and digital entrepreneurship were established, which are increasingly reflected in all sectors of the economy as an important factor supporting the innovation and competitiveness of enterprises. Current development trends indicate the need to modernise the industrial base, taking into account sustainable development principles. Although there are many possibilities for synergies between sustainable development and trends related to the information society, the discussion on the economic and social prospects of ICT development often takes place in isolation from the requirements of sustainable development. The objective of this article is to provide an analysis of the relationship between the concept of sustainable development and digital entrepreneurship, and an indication of both the opportunities as well as the challenges associated with the use of digital businesses, considering the requirements of sustainable development. ICT should be seen not only as a necessity, but also as an opportunity for sustainable development. Therefore, it is important to continue exploration and interdisciplinary studies to develop new models for understanding and minimising the risks and effects associated with the use of ICT. |
