Abstract This work outlines the methodology used to analyse the economic, social, environmental and technical sustainability of an urban distribution centre (UDC) to manage last mile deliveries directed towards the historic centre of a city by using only electric vehicles. Achieving this goal requires a design of novel business model, based on evidence found in cases of real applications. Final aim of research is part of need to determine tools that can be replicated to measure and compare impacts of initiatives undertaken in different contexts. An attempt was made to offer a solution to this hurdle by creating a model capable of enclosing main aspects of interest for service, while at same time standardizing results for each case studied.
