Title Economic feasibility analysis of a spin-off for sustainable composites production
Year 2017
Published
Abstract This paper focuses on an academic spin-off and in the product development process of an innovative product. This topic is still relatively less explored in the literature because most of the existing studies focus on well-established and large companies. Themain goal is to analyze the technical and economic feasibility, by means of a business plan, of a spin-off that manufactures polypropylene-coconut fiber composites. Results were estimated for a time frame of ten years. By using a systemic approach, the concepts and fundaments of economic engineering are used to determine the expenses and expected results. We concluded that the proposed business is viable, sustainable and can be quickly implemented. The results and analyzes can be used as a model for other companies, especially spin-offs.
