Abstract This article shows the primary conclusions of a bibliographic and documental research about sustainable development under business administration point of view. The work is applied to urban environmental conservation units located in and around urban areas. It is trying to show the interested parts as governments, urban communities, NGOs, companies and other stakeholders, its motivations and strategies applied and emerging from their complex interaction. The research identified several different groups of stakeholders governments, urban communities, NGOs, companies, financial institutions and others - interacting in sustainable development project management. It revealed that collaborative strategies are essential to guarantee this projects success. Traditional strategies in situations on just one government unit acts in an disintegrated way are being substituted by collegiate structures. The cohabitation between collaborative strategies and conflicts seems to be part of an inseparable exploratory conceptual model proposed.
