| Abstract | Sustainability in its broadest sense is the capacity to endure, to maintain a process or situation over time. But, the 21st-century definition of sustainability refers to the need to develop the sustainable models necessary for both the human race and planet Earth to survive. The main objective of the article is to highlight the importance of sustainability not only from environmental and economic perspective but mainly from social and ethical dimensions measuring also the impact in the business development of a company. The methodologies used for the study are an evaluation of existing literature regarding social sustainability and a research on top FMCG companies in Romania. The results reveal that the companies should pay greater attention to the social responsibility programs since it is a direct connection between the impact that they have on society and the company profitability. |
