Abstract | Gold mining activities in Pongkor, Indonesia since 1990 have an effect on the environmental and social degradation. Landscape management is the key to address these challenges. Policy of Kemiri Sunan (Reutealis trisperma (Blanco) Airy Shaw) development as energy crop can be a solution. This study aims to analyze the spatial landscape sustainability for this crop in this area and its surrounding. The method used is Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) to determine land suitability, spatial dynamic modeling using Markov chain-Cellular automata to identify the future land availability, and direct interviews to know the land utilization and projection toward local people. Results show that the land suitability is mainly influenced by topography, while land availability is not so wide on bare land but increases if developed on agricultural land. The interview results indicate community's willingness to develop. Sustainable landscape for Kemiri Sunan in pongkor mine site is located in the post-mining location and around tailings disposal. Private bare land and agricultural land can be converted if there is a business partner or government support for the production marketing certainty. |
