Title Production of combined-cross-linked hemicellulosic enzyme aggregates from paperboard residues

Abstract The use of waste in the manufacture of high-value products through biorefinery could lead to a circular bioeconomy. The objective of this work was to create combined cross-linked enzyme aggregates as an added-value product, the enzymes were produced through solid-state fermentation of paperboard residue for two days. The Trichoderma reesei crude extract had 1.6 and 1.3 times more amylase and xylanase activity than Aspergillus niger GS1, which in turn had 1.5-fold increase in cellulose 1,4-beta-cellobiosidase activity over T. reesei. The enzimatic crude extract of T. reesei had increased activity at higher temperatures than A. niger GS1. Spray-dried combined cross-linking enzyme aggregates with enhanced hydrolytic activities were produced using fungal crude enzyme extracts. This process is proposed as a synergistic approach involving the generation of value-added products that could be used in biorefinery for bioethanol production from mango peels and the biowaste remediation leading to positive impacts in circular economy.
