Abstract A series of spherical Ag3PO4 particles with different sizes ranging from 50 nm to 500 nm in highly uniform diameter were prepared through a facile ion-exchange method using AgNO3 and Na2HPO4 as precursors. These Ag3PO4 samples were used as catalysts to degrade bisphenol A (BPA) in water under visible-light irradiation. And excellent catalytic activities were achieved over all these catalysts, the degradation rate of BP.A could reach up to 86.6% after 18 min irradiation. While in the recycling experiments, it was found that Ag3PO4 particle size had an obvious influence on the catalyst stability. The Ag3PO4 catalyst with a diameter of 400 nm exhibited the best activity and stability among all the as- prepared catalysts, and the degradation rate of BPA still remained 71.5% after three recycle runs. The decrease of Ag3PO4 catalytic activity during recycling use was mainly attributed to the formation of Ag on the surface of catalysts and the agglomeration of Ag3PO4 particles.
