Abstract The rapid growth of the Chinese economy has created huge demand and room for infrastructure development. BOT concessions have been granted to attract foreign companies, financial institutions and private investment. In recent years, interest in the BOT program for sewage processing projects has been growing rapidly. BOT sewage treatment projects usually involve multiple parties and often face many constraints. This study uses data models and research examples to investigate the difficulties of sewage in dealing with BOT project accounting, so as to find solutions to problems. The results show that how to standardize accounting and reflect the financial status of the project fairly has become a matter of great concern to government regulators, investors, and project management. The success of the BOT sewage treatment project requires the joint efforts of all relevant stakeholders. These findings provide policymakers and investors with valuable references and useful references for the future development of BOT sewage treatment projects.
