Abstract Technological innovation is redefining supply chain (SC) operations, and old methods of managing SCs may soon be obsolete. Because of recent technological advancements, digitalization has emerged as a hot subject among policymakers and scholars. To keep up with this rising trend in consumer behaviour and stay competitive, organisations must move from old methods of managing SCs to digital supply chains (DSCs) for greater organisational performance. Adopting DSC in the automotive SC allows businesses to increase SC efficiency, speed up operations, provide greater insights, and reduce human mistakes, which contributes to a lower overall acquisition cost. DSC may contribute to SC sustainability by facilitating effective demand and supply planning, decreasing overproduction and resource waste. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyse critical success factors (CSFs) for DSC implementation in automobile organisations to enhance organisational performance and achieve sustainability. A three-phase research framework has been used, i.e., CSFs are discovered in the first phase through literature study and expert feedback; in the second phase, empirical research is undertaken to finalise CSFs; and in the final phase, influencing and influenced variables are identified using the Hesitant Fuzzy Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (HF-DEMATEL) method. The analysis reveals that "collaboration between supply chain actors" is the most critical element in the adoption of DSC, followed by "aligning the company's interests with suppliers." This research study includes both theoretical and practical contributions that enhance the SC operations. This study will help SC managers achieve sustainability in SC operations by effectively implementing DSC.
