| Abstract |
This research project focused on a group of material designers called Remix El Barrio whose aim is to promote circular production with low environmental impact, through the reuse and transformation of organic matter leftover from local businesses and producers in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona. The objective was to analyze the needs, motivations, the purpose of their projects, the origin of the materials they used and the scalability of production. The methodology consisted of an exploratory phase, a collaborative phase and a scalability phase of the proposal. Taking into account the results of this article, a rethinking of the methodology is made for future similar actions. This research project proposes the Organic Matters platform based on the responses and trajectory set by the Remix El Barrio collective, since January 2020. The project is framed in the context of the Master in Design of Emerging Futures organized by the IAAC, the FabLab Barcelona and Elisava during the 2019-20 academic year. |
