Abstract |
During the EVA polymerization process, a by-product, EVA wax, was inevitably generated and needed to be disposed. The objective of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of clarifying the EVA wax via the process combining of the dissolution of xylene and the adsorption of a natural bleaching earth clay (NBEC). The results show that the clarification process had a good performance to clarify the raw EVA wax. The removal efficiency of the VA and Fe from the EVA wax, were 99.8% and 97.2%, respectively and the impurities were mainly trapped in the NBEC. The used xylene and NBEC could be recycled for the next process. The clarification process made the lightness and transmittance of the treated EVA both to increase and the viscosity of the treated EVA wax to be greatly reduced. Overall, the clarification process improved the physical property of the treated EVA wax and promoted its recyclability. |
