Abstract This article tackles contextual challenges in spatial plans and circularity strategies in the built environment. It highlights the issue of using generic circularity toolboxes with limited consideration of site-specific contexts. To address this, the paper proposes socio-spatial visualizations as an alternative approach. Two case studies of industry parks demonstrate the effectiveness of this method. By employing socio-spatial visualizations, future design projects can better understand and integrate site-specific circularity potential, bridging the gap between generic circularity concepts and specific contexts. The aim is to facilitate the implementation of circular economy principles while addressing contextual challenges in the built environment.
