Abstract This review explores the utilization of oil palm biomass (OPB) and polyurethane (PU) as sustainable building materials in the construction sector. Given the significant ecological impact, the article highlights the importance of investigating the potential of OPB and PU for construction applications. The primary objective of this review is to evaluate and summarize existing information on the use of OPB and PU while also examining the material's properties, and environmental sustainability in buildings applications. In addition to compiling the existing information on the use of OPB and PU, this review identifies crucial gaps that require further study. The review advocates for continuous exploration and innovation in utilizing OPB and PU for sustainable construction, providing a foundation for researchers to contribute to more eco-friendly building practices. Furthermore, it guides the direction of sustainable construction material development and lays the groundwork for future research efforts.
