Abstract |
concrete and reinforced concrete con-struction in Germany relies mainly on natural raw materials from primary resources, although the construction sector is suitable for closed material cycles due to its high waste volu-me of 3,7 tons per inhabitant per year in Germany (2018) [1]. In order to promote the circular economy in concrete and reinfor-ced concrete construction, the implementation of the circular economy for application in precast concrete construction was investigated with a high practical relevance along the entire value chain in the framework of the international EU research project ???Secondary Raw Materials for Precast Concrete Con-struction??? (SeRaMCo) from 2017 to 2021. The research focus of the participating European representatives from science, in-dustry and the public sector was on the processing of con-struction waste, the production of cement from crushed sands, and the production of precast concrete elements from recycled aggregate and cement. To demonstrate the industrial feasibili-ty, numerous products were manufactured with the involve-ment of the entire value chain and finally implemented in the construction of pilot structures in public spaces. |
