Abstract |
This study underscores the critical importance of adopting circular economy (CE) strategies to enhance sustainability within supply chains and reduce resource requirements, particularly in minimizing raw material extraction. The purpose of this study is to identify the potential barriers that impede the implementation of a circular economy in an Indian electric vehicle batteries (EVBs) manufacturer. A total of 13 barriers are discerned by conducting the literature survey and as well as consulting with experts and academicians. The interrelationship of the barriers is analysed by adopting the total interpretive structural modeling (TISM) approach. The study uses MICMAC (Matrice d'impacts crois & eacute;s multiplication appliqu & eacute;e & aacute; un classment) analysis to validate the model based on driving and dependence power. As a result of the study, four major barriers have been identified with substantial driving power that directly impact CE implementation. These include poor decisions from top management (CEB13), lack of communication and corporate social responsibility (CEB11), poor financial capability for CE adoption (CEB12), and lack of customer awareness (CEB10). The findings demonstrate the practical relevance, usefulness, and efficacy of the proposed framework in identifying and analysing the barriers to the adoption of CE. |
