| Abstract |
In this paper we present, in a synthetic way, the most important research outcomes of the project on "The role of innovation in promoting a green economy in Romania." First, we outline the main features and principles of the green economy and especially the necessity for increasing resource efficiency, for implementing and monitoring all the latest strategies of sustainable economic growth in the European Union and consequently, in Romania. A conceptual and empirical analysis of eco-innovation follows, introducing the concept of eco-innovation parks. There is a pointing to the positive direct correlation between eco-innovation parks (EInvP) and resource productivity revealed by recent national and international surveys as well as by our own research. In the second part of the paper, we analyze some of the latest national and European trends and issues of eco-innovation. The conclusions and recommendations of the paper outline some progress, but also some difficulties in eco-innovation promoting the green economy in Romania, as well as the expected prospects and policies. |
