Abstract Sustainable management is essential for business success; it helps companies achieve profitability while maintaining a balance between resource consumption and production. This study was carried out from a larger study consisting of several Chinese telecommunication multinationals in Malaysia. It examines their impact and contribution to local industry and Malaysia as the host country. In essence, the focus on sustainable management is vital to explain how a foreign multinational could positively impact the host country's human resource development, and its process of technological transfer. Through open-ended surveys and face-to-face interviews, the transcripts of several top executives in the firm (anonymize as Company X) revealed themes and codes that address the key research question. This study revealed that sustainable management could be facilitated by cultivating a value-driven organizational culture, before embarking on research and development initiatives that emphasize steward leadership in processual and infrastructure development and positive socio-economic impact. As an implication, this study provided another internal perspective on sustainable management for the Chinese multinational firm in the host country of Malaysia.
