Abstract Craft breweries have been expanding and standing out in the Brazilian market. The increase in the number of breweries entails a concern with the waste generated in the production process. This article addresses the concepts of Circular Economy and Industrial Symbiosis and aims to seek evidence of SI in production waste sharing in craft breweries, describe the management of waste generated in the production process, and investigate the perceptions of brewery manager entrepreneurs regarding IS, their motivations and limiting factors. The research method was a descriptive and exploratory case study using the interview, document analysis, and observation techniques. A research protocol was established, and the questions were restructured after a technical visit to a brewery. The results indicate that it is not possible to evidence the symbiotic relationship regarding the management of inputs or leftovers generated in the products' production. The liquid waste receives an initial treatment and it is poured into the public sewage system. Approximately 92% of producers donate or commercialize their solid waste to rural producers and 83% of the producers perceive IS only as an environmental benefit. The entrepreneurs' cultural aspect can be highlighted among the limitations to the IS, as well as their lack of knowledge regarding the alternatives for waste reuse, the production size, and the cost to process the waste.
