Abstract |
This article arises from the need to generate business proposals related to circular economy process, taking advantage of organic waste unfit for human consumption, as a result of cleaning, sorting and final disposal activities in food banks. The pilot test was carried out during the first semester of 2021, at the Banco Arquidiocesano de Alimentos de Barranquilla. The study was quantitative, descriptive, experimental and cross-sectional. Initially, we worked with a population of approximately 15 000 larvae of Black Soldier Flies (BSF), as an experimental test of the study. For this research, the behavior of the larval culture was analyzed in detail and we sought to implement and learn the feasibility process of the business proposal for the production of larvae and some by-products. The factors that intervened in the efficiency of the study were analyzed, revealing the most successful variables in favor of the proposed productive initiative were disclosed, and projections were made on the return on investment and profit margins. In the same way, the behavior of BSF insect production was explored in search of the ideal scenario for the development of this business proposal. |
