Abstract The 2030 Agenda is a set of 17 goals that all countries in the world must implement, and is based on three pillars: economic, social and environmental. In public procurement, the Sustainable Development Goal No. 12 is more directly applied, which seeks to ensure sustainable patterns of consumption and production. In this sense, the Public Administration must implement in its contracting processes effective methods that allow reaching the results consistent with the expectations of a better quality of public policies. Thus, such measures occur through sustainable contracts that combine a good quality/price ratio, as well as purchases that generate benefits not only for the organization, but also for the environment, society and economy. From the analyzes listed in this study, it was possible to verify that the participation of public managers is a key factor in promoting a new action by society, in promoting a circular economy and in the formulation of actions aimed at long-term sustainability.
