Abstract Achieving sustainable energy integration in aviation facilities is critical amid rising energy consumption and environmental concerns. This study employs the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to evaluate energy sources for airfield facilities, emphasising feasibility, sustainability, and practicality. The assessment encompasses solar, wind, water, geothermal, waste-to-energy, biomass, co-/tri-generation, and hydrogen technologies. A multidisciplinary 'smart energy map' for Hungary is introduced, aligning local sustainable energy potential with specific location attributes, energy demand profiles, and regulatory considerations. Real-world instances of solar energy integration at airfields underscore feasibility. This research aims to optimise energy use within airfield structures, enhancing efficiency, reducing emissions, and advancing sustainable aviation.
