Abstract Adopting high-quality green practices is crucial for companies in response to the escalating environmental challenges worldwide. This study aims to investigate the intricate interactions among digital technology adoption (DIGA), organizational absorptive capacity (OBCP), CEO green experience (GREP), and the quality of green innovation (GRIN) in Chinese enterprises from 2010 to 2022. Our findings indicate a positive link between DIGA and GRIN, with OBCP serving a pivotal mediating function. Furthermore, GREP enhances this relationship significantly. Through regional and sector-specific analysis, we also uncover distinct correlations across various areas and sectors, influenced by their pollution levels. These insights are invaluable for corporate leaders, highlighting the critical role of digitalization, absorptive capabilities, and green leadership in advancing sustainable innovation.
