Abstract This study, employing the System-GMM estimation method, investigates the influence of importing green technological components on ferrous metal production in 22 Asian and 20 European countries from 2000 to 2021. The results reveal a substantial decline of 0.35 % and 0.21 % in ferrous metal production in response to a 1 % increase in green technological component imports in Asian and European nations. A positive correlation between GDP growth and ferrous metal production is observed, indicating significant increases of 0.63 % and 0.32 % in Asian and European countries. Additionally, heightened electricity consumption is linked to a notable surge of 0.42 % and 0.19 % in Asian and European nations, reflecting industrial growth. Foreign Direct Investment emerges as a motivating factor for ferrous metal production, emphasizing the need for environmentally aligned green FDI. The study concludes with actionable policy recommendations, including prioritizing green technologies, enforcing environmental regulations, integrating economic growth with sustainability, transitioning to renewable energy sources, stabilizing commodity prices, and promoting green FDI.
