Abstract |
This study utilizes the Cross-Sectional Autoregressive Distributed Lag (CS-ARDL) technique to examine the influence of coal, gas, and crude oil efficiency on the green growth of 17 East Asian and Pacific countries from 2000 to 2020. Notably, coal efficiency emerges as the most impactful factor, showing significant positive effects on both short- and long-term green growth. The study attributes this dominance to the higher environmental pollution linked to coal combustion. Long-term coefficients underscore the crucial shift towards cleaner energy practices, emphasizing the substantial positive impact of enhanced coal efficiency. Positive contributions from the Digital Economy Index and Green Finance Market are highlighted, emphasizing technological advancement and sustainable investments. However, waste generation and the maturity of green innovation, reflected in patent applications, pose potential barriers. Recommended policies include prioritizing cleaner coal technologies, fostering technological innovation, and encouraging sustainable investments to drive East Asian and Pacific countries towards a more environmentally conscious and economically resilient future. |
