Abstract By introduction of the modern ecological trend in the 21st century, Hamburg has become a center of innovation. In Internationale Bauausstellung (International Building Exhibition) IBA Hamburg 2006-2013 and Internationale Gartenschau (International Garden Show) IGS Hamburg 2013 one can find the latest achievements of green technology and designs of green spaces. Owing to this events there is a new park in Wilhelmsburg open to city-dwellers. Nowadays this part of Hamburg creates a harmonious green space. As a result the quality of living there improved. Those great endeavours show how to transform a neglected urban space in a sustainable way so that is not only attractive for people but also environmentally-friendly. The study of green technologies and green spaces involves a number of ways and methods. It has become especially important nowadays when the latest technologies and ideas on shaping green can be applied to create space. The article illustrates possibilities of formal solutions with the use of green in various forms, leaving it open for further research in this topic. The analysis, in situ city space in Hamburg, from different points of view, including green technology and green space aspects is presented in the paper. Thus, it is possible to receive the complex solution of spectacular tendencies in the development of such a special city as Hamburg is. The modern tendencies of modelling space with green technologies can be included in the design practice of cities. The occurrence of green in different forms causes on the one hand the multiplication of technical and operational issues, but, on the other hand, an increase in the number and attractiveness of visual and functional effects. Due to this, technologically advanced green space solutions have become a very important way to shape cities.
