Abstract Hydrogen is called the fuel of the future. However, the hydrogen produced through renewable sources are clean as they are carbon emission friendly and is called green hydrogen. This paper examines how green hydrogen could significantly impact Bangladesh's move toward cleaner and sustainable energy. It also explores the current state of green hydrogen technology, assesses Bangladesh's available resources, and outlines both the opportunities and challenges in its development. In exploring green hydrogen technology, the study reviews its current advancements, innovations, and existing infrastructure. Simultaneously, it evaluates Bangladesh's resources, considering renewable energy capacity and technological capabilities to determine the country's readiness for integrating green hydrogen solutions. Identifying opportunities involves recognizing sectors where green hydrogen could be most beneficial, such as industry, transportation, and power generation. Additionally, this paper provides a roadmap for the future of green hydrogen in Bangladesh. This plan describes the important actions and policies needed to create a supportive environment for the growth of green hydrogen. It emphasizes the importance of targeted investments in research and development, infrastructure, and policy initiatives to unlock the full potential of green hydrogen, positioning Bangladesh as a significant player in the global shift toward sustainable energy to achieve net zero target.
