Abstract |
The shared value perspective proposes the generation of value from corporate actions on several social fronts including the environmental one (Porter and Kramer, 2011). This paper discusses and proposes the use of the green patent program as a way of materializing shared value in the abrasives industry in Brazil. An analytical framework on the potential for value generation is proposed, based on adherence to the INPI program. According to the data analyzed, the abrasives industry can use the Green Patents program to leverage issues related to property law, given the intensity of innovation in the industry, including sustainable technologies and patenting delays in the current system. In this way, green patents become a proxy for observing the application of shared value in the abrasives industry. |
