Abstract This study delves into the determinants of green growth across 11 East Asian nations spanning the period from 1998 to 2021. Notably, an upswing in fossil fuel efficiency by 1 % is identified as a driver for green growth, showcasing an improvement in sustainable practices and technological innovation. Intriguingly, the initial impact of internet access manifests as a transient decline in green growth, attributed to energy-intensive technological advancements. However, this is succeeded by a prolonged increase, highlighting the enduring advantages of improved communication. The positive association between GDP growth and green growth emphasizes the potential for economic advancement to harmonize with environmental stewardship. Nevertheless, challenges surface, particularly the adverse effect of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on green growth, urging a recalibration of foreign investment strategies in line with sustainability objectives. Policymakers are urged to promote clean technologies, navigate the nuanced impacts of internet access, and channel economic prosperity toward eco-friendly initiatives.
