Abstract |
The sector construction puts pressure on natural resources. The transition to a circular system of production and consumption is crucial to reduce the environmental impacts of the sector. However, the lack of understanding of circular economy (CE) principles and the complexity of its value chain makes this transition difficult. Through a literature review, this study analyses the barriers and opportunities classified into five categories (economic, informational, institutional, political, and technological) that influence the implementation of CE in the sector. Of the results, the categories of political and technological barriers were the most representative, evidencing the need for a governance policy based on regulatory and tax actions and an integrated waste and information management system. The sector needs joint action between government and stakeholders to establish public-private partnerships and effective and segmented communication aimed at a circular transition. |
