Abstract |
China's rapid economic growth over the past 30 years has been driven by a multiple increase in energy consumption, primarily crude oil. The growth of income of the population has catalyzed the growth of car production and sales, especially in major cities. Today, the Chinese leadership recognizes that the era of cars with an internal combustion engine is ending. The growth in volumes and sales of automotive products has exacerbated the country's dependence on imported petroleum products, but also worsened the environmental situation in China's megacities. Recognizing relevant globally negative consequences the government has elaborated the programme of automobile industry development, based on power economy and new power engineering. The programme is aimed at the creation of innovative motor vehicles' fleet and transport infrastructure of a new generation. Since the end of the 12th five-year plan (2010-2015), Chinese industry of new auto production has been rapidly developing, due to both state budget support and system of benefits, including exemption from sales tax and system of state subsidies for the purchase of innovative cars running on alternative energy sources. Targeted state financial and economic policy in relation to the "green cars" production has allowed the country to become a world leader in the creation of advanced technologies in the "green" automotive industry and guarantees a significant share of the world market for sales of competitive innovative cars, using alternative energy sources, with high added value. The growth in sales of "green cars" in China will also help to alleviate two global problems faced by modern China, namely, the significant dependence on the country's dependence on imported hydrocarbons and the air pollution in the country's largest megacities as well. The author concludes that the goals of the Chinese leadership in the medium and long term for the development of "green cars", is determined by the position of modern China in the world economy, characterized by a high level of innovation and competitiveness. This level, both on the national and international automobile markets, is the main factor and the key to the effectiveness of Chinese car manufacturers. |
