Abstract |
Smart city user communications have emerged in millions with the increase in application demands and technologies. Application and quality based information exchange are autonomous with hand-held devices participating in communication or requesting services. Controlling resource management in such environment is tedious due to their distributed, asynchronous, and mobility features. An agent-based middleware framework (AMF) using distributed Cyber Physical System (CPS) is proposed in this manuscript for improving communication reliability in smart city environment. Agent-technology with linear computation model evades the data source downtime issues. The agents are autonomous and are independent of each other in providing seamless resource sharing and response scheduling irrespective of the request queries and communication time. This framework jointly addresses the request failure and response time problem by balancing the storage and resource utilization in an optimal manner. The linear computation model classifies the overloaded agents to assign non-overlapping resources and thereby improving the response for the processed query. The performance of the proposed framework is analyzed using resource and storage utilization, response and downtime for varying query requests and time. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. |
