| Abstract |
This paper investigates the contribution of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to enable Dubai to be a smart city for the period 2005-2016. The relationship between RTA and Dubai development manifest obviously, whereas, the appliance of the integrated urban development plans requires developing projects include the potential technological aspects that would enable the city to be a smart city. The research analyzes the RTA projects that enable Dubai to include elements of the smart city which imply the potential technological aspects, as well as providing an econometrics analysis by using cointegration analysis and error correction model. The conclusion indicates that the RTA's smart transport systems contribute to increasing the value added of the information and communication sector in Dubai, as well as the increase in the number of New Vehicles Registered in Dubai and the Road Lengths in Dubai leads to an increase in Investment of Information and Communication Sector. Where the sector's investment is significantly affected by the development of the RTA projects that implement the world first-class technology and highest smart systems. |
